Is Therapy For Me?
Often times people ask themselves questions such as, "Is therapy for me?", "What will therapy be like?", "Will it feel weird?", "Is something wrong with me if I go to therapy?". . Therapy can be scary. You are opening yourself up to a new person, sharing your story. My number one focus is to make you comfortable and help you feel safe. My job is not to judge, but rather walk alongside you. Therapy will move at YOUR pace and we will explore what YOU want.
Sometimes we feel alone and misunderstood. Sometimes we have trouble setting boundaries in relationships. Sometimes we enter stages of life that are more stressful than others, experiencing major life changes, both for the good and bad. Whatever stage you are in, I want to join you.
Life is a journey, often filled with joy, but sometimes filled with sorrow and pain. I will walk beside you through your journey and help you navigate the road that can be curvy, unpredictable and confusing at times.
I believe transparency is important, and in order for you to feel comfortable opening up to someone, you need to know a little bit about them. I taught high school for many years, which allows me to bring that unique experience of working with teens into my practice. I currently teach at the university level, keeping current with what is going on in the field of therapy, and helping train new therapists. I am also a wife and a mother. I know first hand how difficult it can be living a life of balance, and trying to "keep all the balls in the air", which I believe many people can relate to.
